Best Paper Award at ICB 2018
Award for CRISP-Scientists of University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt
For their paper "Multi-sample Compression of Iris Images using High“ the CRISP-Scientists Christian Rathgeb, Torsten Schlett, Nicolas Buchmann, Harald Baier, Christoph Busch, all University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, were awarded the Best Paper Award in bronze at the International Conference on Biometrics (ICB) 2018.
In their thesis the scientists developed a method which is able to process several iris images of one eye during a biometrical enrolment process, to improve the accuracy of Iris-Recognition systems. In consideration of the memory limitations of biometric reference data bases the thesis analyses the highly efficient video coding for this task.
The ICB is the most important platform for the presentation of new developments and research results in the area of Biometry. This year the conference took place form the 20. - 23. February 2018 in Gold Cast, Queensland, Australia.
