Distinguished Lectures in Cybersecurity
Every term distinguished experts of science and economy are coming to Darmstadt within the Distinguished Lecture Series in Cybersecurity to discuss the diverse chances and challenges in the area of IT-security. The lecturers are presenting pioneering research results in different disciplines, summarize complex topics and demonstrate their current state of knowledge of their research and working areas. The lectures are public. Interested visitors are very welcome.

Digitale Signature defies quantum computer
In 2014 TU Darmstadt and genau started the research project quantum computer-resistant signature techniques for practical use. After three years work in the area of the so called Hash-based signatures they are now able to protect product-updates with post-quantum sigantures thanks to a successful copertation. Within a closing event the project "squareUP" was presented at it-sa in Nuremberg.

Privacy Friendly Apps gain new additions
The two new Privacy Friendly Apps "Lineal" and "Maßband" are enabling the measuring of objects with a Smartphone or Tablet. The Lineal-App shows a ruler, optional a protractor, at the edge of the device. Thus objects, that are smaller than the device, can be measured. While doing so the Lineal-App does not need any authorization. The Privacy Friendly Werwolf is an Android implementation of the "Werewolf" card game. Players, who are connected to the same WiFi, can play together without needing the role cards.

ECSM is the EU’s annual awareness campaign that takes place each October across Europe. The aim is to raise awareness of cyber security threats, promote cyber security among citizens and organizations; and provide resources to protect themselves online, through education and sharing of good practices.

Konrad-Zuse-Medal for Johannes Buchmann
Yesterdas evening Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Johannes Buchmann was awarded the Konrad-Zuse-Medal for achievements in computer science on behalf of the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V.). Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Liggesmeyer, President of the German Informatics Society: „Mit Johannes Buchmann ehrt die Gesellschaft für Informatik einen herausragenden Wissenschaftler, der die Entwicklung der Cybersicherheitsforschung in Deutschland und weltweit maßgeblich geprägt hat.“

Dr. Siegfried Rasthofer, Fraunhofer SIT, is awarded this year's ICT Dissertation Award for his dissertation "Improving Mobile-Malware Investigations with Static and Dynamic Code Analysis Techniques".

Cornerstone for Cybersecurity at TU Darmstadt
Today the structural construction for the new building for IT-Security Research at TU Darmstadt began with a cornerstone ceremony. The center at Kantplatz, costing almost 18.4 million Euro, is funded by the Federation, the State (Hessen) and the TU Darmstadt. In the future the Profile Area Cybersecurity (CYSEC) at TU Darmstadt is going to do their research there.
