Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger visits ATHENE
As part of her summer tour this year, Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger visited ATHENE. Our researchers presented their findings in the areas of network and software security, disinformation and IT law. The minister also visited the ATHENE Cyber Range, a defence training course for IT employees that combines the advantages of a realistic simulation platform with best practices and updates on cyber innovations.
The Minister was impressed by the variety of topics, the excellence of the results and the strong focus of ATHENE research on direct impact and technology transfer. "The excellent research results and transfer successes of ATHENE emphatically demonstrate the central role the centre plays in the German research and innovation system for cyber security," said Bettina Stark-Watzinger. "I am very pleased that we, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, together with the state of Hesse, created this outstanding research centre five years ago and have been funding it ever since. It was also impressive to see how successful ATHENE has been in getting women interested in the topic of cyber security and attracting excellent female scientists."
