ATHENE and ESA: Strategic cooperation in the field of cybersecurity

ATHENE and the European Space Agency (ESA) have signed a cooperation agreement for joint research and development in the field of cybersecurity. The collaboration identifies three main areas of cooperation: the exchange of expertise in the field of cybersecurity, joint public relations activities and local cooperation within the City of Science Darmstadt and the ATHENE network. Particularly noteworthy are the planned joint research activities in the areas of cyber security innovation, security of space systems and the application of artificial intelligence and automation for cybersecurity solutions in the space sector. As part of this collaboration, the international hacking competition was initiated under the motto "PWN the Rover", in which qualified student teams were able to demonstrate their cybersecurity skills on ExoMy rovers at the ESA satellite control center ESOC in Darmstadt.
