CAST-Advancement Award IT-Security 2018

13/11/2018

Four Students from the CRISP Environment are among the Nominees

For many years, CAST e.V. has been supporting the IT security newcomers in Germany with the invitation to tender for the CAST Förderpreis. Amongst this year's finalists are four works by Darmstadt students. The work was supervised by the TU Darmstadt, one in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD.

Experts of CAST e.V. have reviewed all submissions in advance and evaluated their quality. On this basis, a total of ten authors were nominated for the finalist workshop on November 29th. The finalists will present their results there. A renowned jury of representatives of industry and research will then identify the winners.

The Darmstadt finalists are:

  • Daniel Günther with his Bachelorthesis “Valiant’s Universal Circuit - Towards a Modular Construction and Implementation”; Mentor: Ágnes Kiss und Prof. Thomas Schneider (TU Darmstadt). The results of this work have already been published at ASIACRYPT 2017, the largest conference on applied cryptography.
  • Kristiyan Dimitrov with his Masterthesis “Exploring Deep Multi-biometric Fusion”; Mentor: Prof. Arjan Kuijper (TU Darmstadt / Fraunhofer IGD)
  • Dennis Mantz with his Masterthesis “InternalBlue - A Bluetooth Experimentation Framework Based on Mobile Device Reverse Engineering”; Mentor: Prof. Matthias Hollick (TU Darmstadt)
  • Aidmar Wainakh with his Masterthesis “On the Analysis Generation of Synthetic Attacks for Intrusion Detection Systems”; Mentor: Prof. Max Mühlhäuser (TU Darmstadt)

The workshop with subsequent award ceremony will take place on November 29, 2018 in Darmstadt.
