Public Expert Discussion in the German Bundestag:"»Cybersecurity« Perspektives for a secured digital space"“
CRISP-Researcher of the TU Darmstadt was invited to talk as an expert about digital securtiy
The task force PEASEC of the TU Darmstadt lead by Prof. Christian Reuter provided one of four experts for digital security. Thomas Reinhold presented on the public expert discussion on "»Cybersecurity« Perspektives for a secured digital space" for the work groups IV, V und VI of the parliamentary group DIE LINKE.
Thomas Reinhold presented on the risk of militarisation of cyber space. Due to the lack of international regulations the use of cyberweapons pose an imminent threat. This will pose a major challenge since established procedures for controll and limitations of armaments are not suited for the special characteristics of cyber space. These new weapon technology and the militarisation of cyberspace have been neglected by science for far too long, in his opinion. This challenge calls for an interdisciplinary collaboration of sciences concerning peace and conflict research. The much needed international convention demands for such a collaboration to stop the dynamic of arms build-up in the cyber space and promote a peaceful growth in this area.
The fundamental research here was the paper: "Cybersicherheit – ein Beitrag für einen sicheren digitalen Raum", in which problems and possible solutions are shown for the realisation of digital security in Germany and Europe - as seen by the parliamentary group DIE LINKE.
