Meet the Scientist York Yannikos on the MS Wissenschaft in Mainz

With our exhibit "Darknet - heller als gedacht", ATHENE sheds light on the MS Wissenschaft and explains what exactly the darknet is, who operates there and what you need to access the darknet. The MS Wissenschaft will be docking in Mainz from 6 - 10 September, and our Darknet expert York Yannikos will be available to answer questions at our exhibit on Friday, 6 September from 15:00. Take the opportunity and let our researcher explain the most important terms and technologies to you.

He also explains research findings that show how diverse the darknet is used, how transactions take place on the marketplaces on the darknet and what communication behaviour looks like in anonymous cyberspace.
York Yannikos is deputy head of the Media Security and IT Forensics department at the Fraunhofer SIT | ATHENE and has been intensively involved with the darknet for many years.
