INTERSPEECH 2018
CRISP-researchers published together with Prof. Korbinian Riedhammer from University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim, an international expert on speech recognition, the article "VoiceGuard: Secure and Private Speech Processing" on INTERSPEECH 2018.
INTERSPEECH is the flagship conference in speech recognition and organized by the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA)

Design Automation Conference (DAC)
The Collaborative Research Center CROSSING, located at TU Darmstadt, sponsored the Hack@DAC 2018 Hardware Security Contest co-organized by Prof. Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi, CYSEC [at] TU Darmstasdt. Hack@DAC is a hardware-security competition for students and industry experts. This year’s competition focused on the trustworthiness of System-on-Chips (SoCs). Sadeghi and his team also organized and participated in several workshops.

Ethics- and Technology Advisory Board of the Digital City Darmstadt
The Digital City Darmstadt GmbH is as of now supported by an ethics and technology advisory board. Chairman of the council is deputy CRISP spokesman Prof. Michael Waidner, Fraunhofer SIT and CYSEC [at] TU Darmstadt, in his function as chief digital officer (CDO) of the city of science Darmstadt. Other members of the council are among others the CRISP scientists Prof. Peter Buxmann and Prof. Christian Reuter, both CYSEC [at] TU Darmstadt and Prof. Dieter Fellner, Fraunhofer IGD.

A Recipe againt the Might of Quantum Computers
A team of CRISP-speaker Professor Johannes Buchmann of TU Darmstadt developed a quantum computers secure procedure for digital signatures, which is now a common internet standard.
Dramatic advances in the development of quantum computers, is a cause for concern regarding the future security of the internet, as the superfast computers can hack common encoding and digital signatures in no time at all. Hence, researcher world-wide are developing new security procedures that are supposed to be immune against attacks from quantum computers, so-called post-quantum-cryptography.

CRISP Speaker is invited to the Bundestag as an Expert
The 11. session of their legislative period the Committee of Digital Agenda deals with the current state of the development of quantum computers. CRISP speaker Prof. Johannes Buchmann, CYSEC [at] TU Darmstadt, took part in the public hearing as one of seven invited experts.

Eurographics Gold Medal 2018 goes to Prof. Dieter W. Fellner
For his extraordinary carrier and merits for the advancements of computer graphics, Prof. Dr. techn. Dieter W. Fellner, Fraunhofer IGD, was honored and distinguished. However the international research organization for computer graphics didn't award Fellner the gold medal just for his research: He was also honored for the leading position he has been holding for years at the Eurographics Association.

PROTECTIVE starts Test Operation
The European project PROTECTIVE (Proactive Risk Management through Improved Cyber Situational Awareness) initiated the test operation of a system that allows the automatic sharing of security information. On the part of the TU Darmstadt the CRISP-researcher Prof. Max Mühlhäuser takes part in PROTECTIVE with his research group. The researchers from Darmstadt bring their expertise in the field of Computational Trust Managements to judge and visualize the quality of the threat data.

Second Funding Phase for Crypthograpy- Special Research Area CROSSING granted
On May 17, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) granted the second funding phase for the special research area CROSSING, that exists at TU Darmstadt since 2014. From 2018 until 2022 CROSSING will be granted an additional 10 Million Euro.
